HAGEN/STARNBERG, July 28, 2025

Main draw action got underway on a rain-interrupted Monday at the 2025 Platzmann Open, which is being held for the first time at the Tennis Club Rot-Weiß Hagen. The spotlight match featured No. 8 seed Benjamin Hassan of Lebanon, who fell short in a tight battle against Frenchman Clement Tabur.

The players had barely stepped onto Center Court before rain interrupted play for several hours. Once the match resumed, Tabur made the most of his chances, securing one break per set to seal a 6-4, 6-4 win and book his place in the second round of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 event.

Meanwhile, Jan Choinski of Great Britain found himself locked in a fierce contest against Italy’s Lorenzo Giustino. After splitting sets, the third was suspended at 2-2 due to bad light and will be completed on Tuesday.

Florian Broska Falls Short in Qualifying

Earlier in the day, the final round of qualifying determined the last main-draw spots. Of the six Germans in action Monday, only Florian Broska still had a chance to qualify. The Koblenz native pushed Sweden’s Olle Wallin to three sets but ultimately fell 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
