Choinski Captures Challenger Crown In Troyes

Jan Choinski has clinched the title of the Internationaux de Tennis de Troyes. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event edged past second-seeded Frenchman Calvin Hemery 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final.

Choinski advanced to the championship match with wins in the top half of the draw over local wild card entry Theo Papamalami, Serbian qualifier Branko Djuric, French qualifier Harold Mayot and top seed Marco Trungelliti of Argentina.

The 29-year-old Koblenz native converted four of his 12 break-point chances and won 53 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in two hours and 41 minutes.

Choinski claimed his fourth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first of the season, and earned €7,530 in prize money as well as 50 ATP Ranking points.

The fourth edition of the Internationaux de Tennis de Troyes was hosted by the Tennis Club de Troyes.
