SANTA PONCA, July 2, 2025 (Press Release)
The Mallorca Championships presented by ecotrans Group concluded its 2025 edition with remarkable success, drawing 26,994 spectators over the course of eight days at the Mallorca Country Club. The tournament reached full capacity for its thrilling final on Saturday, June 28, solidifying its reputation as one of the premier grass-court events on the ATP Tour.
“This has been one of the most rewarding editions of the Mallorca Championships to date,” said Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of e|motion group, the tournament organizer. “Not only did we witness exceptional tennis, but we also reaffirmed our commitment to sustainability, our local community, and the global visibility of Mallorca as a world-class sports destination televised in 100 countries around the world. Once again, the island proved it can host top-tier events with soul.”
On court, Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor clinched the singles title with an impressive straight-sets win over France’s Corentin Moutet – not dropping a single set throughout the week. In doubles, Santiago González and Austin Krajicek emerged victorious after a nail-biting match decided in a super tiebreak.

More than tennis: A week of purpose
The 2025 edition stood out not only for its sporting achievements, but also for its significant social and environmental contributions.
As part of its long-standing commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the tournament continued its plastic-free initiative for a third consecutive year. Free refill stations were installed across the venue, eliminating the use of single-use plastic bottles.
In partnership with local environmental NGO Protemar, two major clean-up operations were held: one at Torrente de Santa Ponça, where over 200 kg of waste was removed, and another on World Oceans Day, resulting in the collection of nearly 997 kg of debris from the beach and seabed near Marineland, Costa d’en Blanes.
Supporting the local economy was also a central pillar: 70% of contracted companies were based in Mallorca, reinforcing the event’s commitment to local business and sustainable operations. The initiative was publicly supported by the Balearic Government, Consell de Mallorca, and Calvià City Council.
A tournament open to all
Over 200 free tickets were distributed to local organizations including AMADIP-ESMENT, ASDICA, and Projecte Jove, promoting inclusion and accessibility. Meanwhile, Cruz Roja (Red Cross) ran an awareness campaign in the Fan Zone focused on combating elderly isolation through its “Match amb la solidaritat” initiative.
One of the week’s most family-friendly moments came on Sunday, June 22, during the Family Day, featuring interactive activities and the island’s first Mascot Meetup. Children enjoyed appearances by Champi (the tournament mascot), Dimonió (RCD Mallorca), Roqueta (Palma Futsal), Sharky (Palma Aquarium), and Pongus (Fergus Group).
Charity Partners Night: Sport for a cause
Another highlight was the Charity Partners Night, a special fundraising event held in support of ClientEarth, a legal nonprofit dedicated to environmental protection. A total of €52,000 was raised through a live charity auction, featuring unique prizes such as player-signed gear and a private padel match with Jürgen Klopp and his son Marc – a major attraction among guests.
A platform for the next generation
The McTeen youth tournament final was also contested on Saturday at the Grand Stand court, offering promising young Balearic players the chance to compete in a professional tournament setting. The champions were Mia Franco (F13), Eva Navio (F15), Karl Johansson (M13) and Luca Satchell (M15), who celebrated their victories in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
