SANTA FE/STARNBERG, June 16, 2025
The fourth edition of the AAT Challenger Santander in Santa Fe came to a close with Brazilian Joao Reis Da Silva crowned as champion. He defeated Argentina’s Lautaro Midón 6-4, 6-3 to claim his first-ever title on the ATP Challenger Tour, marking the biggest triumph of his career. The tournament was the fifth Challenger event held in Argentina in 2025 and the fourth organized by the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT).
The 25-year-old Brazilian needed just one hour and 25 minutes to secure the win, which lifts him to World No. 263 in the ATP Rankings, just shy of his career-high of No. 259.

“I really enjoy playing here. I’ve been coming since I was 14 years old and always felt good with the conditions. The courts are always in great shape,” said Reis Da Silva, while holding the trophy in his hands.
Born in Recife, Reis Da Silva displayed impressive tennis from the very beginning of the final, maintaining control of the match and keeping the score in his favor. That pressure made it difficult for Midón to find his rhythm throughout. It was an outstanding week for the Brazilian, who is coached by João Zwetsch and was joined in Santa Fe by Carlos Costa. During the tournament, he defeated Igor Gimenez of Brazil, Mariano Kestelboim from Argentina, Peruvian Gonzalo Bueno, Andrea Collarini of Argentina, and finally Lautaro Midón to claim the title.
Despite the loss, the week was a highly positive one for the 21-year-old Midón from Corrientes. “It was a really good week even though I couldn’t win today. There’s not much to regret — he just played a very solid match from start to finish,” said Midón, who will rise to a career-high ranking of No. 285 on Monday, breaking into the ATP top 300 for the first time. “We just try to keep improving day by day, regardless of the outcomes. Being in the top 300 is a great reward.”
