KITZBÜHEL/STARNBERG, May 29, 2025
When the Generali Open Kitzbühel kicks off on July 19, 2025, the iconic venue nestled in the Austrian Alps will once again become a stage for unforgettable moments—both on the court and in the concert arena. The festivities will begin with a major musical highlight: beloved German band Sportfreunde Stiller will perform a free open-air concert on July 20, setting the tone for a vibrant week of tennis, music, and mountain charm.
Austrian Stars on the Rise
From a sporting perspective, the Generali Open is a cornerstone of the Austrian tennis calendar, often seen as a “home Grand Slam” for local talents. National hopes are currently riding high with both Sebastian Ofner and Filip Misolic reaching the second round of the 2025 French Open—proof of the strong form of Austria’s top players.
While the tournament organizers are still finalizing their selection of wildcard entries for the main draw—including the Austrian contenders—Tournament Director Alexander Antonitsch remains confident: “We are currently in the final stages of negotiations. The full line-up will be announced after the registration deadline.”
Despite the scheduling challenges posed by the North American hard court season, the Generali Open continues to draw top-tier talent and enthusiastic fans alike.
More Than just Tennis
Beyond the Centre Court, the Generali Open Kitzbühel offers a rich and dynamic supporting program. Live DJs will bring festival vibes to the event grounds, while the Family Weekend and ALPQUELL Kitz 4 Kids Day promise fun, games, and movement for all ages. For the first time, three young talents from the popular TV show The Voice Kids will perform live, adding to the music-filled atmosphere.
Another crowd favorite returns: the Krone Ladies Day hosted by Babsi Schett, offering free entry to all women. Meanwhile, the future of Austrian tennis takes center stage with the Kitz Rising youth tournament, giving emerging talents the opportunity to shine. Local musical star Oimara will light up the quarterfinals with his hit song “Wackelkontakt”, and after Sunday’s grand final, a DJ will keep the celebrations going in the event arena.
Grassroots Meets Pro Tennis: “Generali Race to Kitz”
The Generali Race to Kitz continues to bring amateur tennis players closer to the professional scene. With over 1,300 participants from across Austria, the competition culminates in a grand finale in Kitzbühel. Finalists get the rare chance to play on Centre Court, with a prize pool of €10,000 on the line—an experience that blends the excitement of professional play with grassroots enthusiasm.
Economic and Cultural Impact
One of Tyrol’s flagship summer events, the Generali Open has significant regional impact. The tournament contributes an estimated €15 million in economic value and routinely draws sold-out crowds. In 2024, ticket sales were at capacity for five consecutive days—an achievement organizers hope to replicate in 2025.
Ticket demand for next year is already strong, particularly for the quarterfinals and beyond. The trend signals another successful edition ahead for this unique blend of world-class tennis and Alpine celebration.
