SKOPJE/STARNBERG, May 24, 2025

Briton Jay Clarke, 26, emerged as the champion of the 2025 Macedonian Open after defeating qualifier Nerman Fatic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Saturday’s final. Clarke claimed a straight-sets victory 6-2, 6-3 in just 84 minutes to lift the title and earn 75 ATP Ranking points along with a prize of €1,920. Fatic, runner-up of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court tournament, takes home 44 points and €7,620.

Clarke took early control of the match, breaking Fatic in the fourth game to go up 3-1. Though the Bosnian responded immediately with a break of his own, Clarke regained the lead and broke again for 4-2, closing out the first set with another break for 6-2.

In the second set, Clarke broke early once more, racing to a 3-0 lead. He remained solid on serve throughout the set, but needed five match points before finally sealing the win. Clarke earned his fourth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first since Morelos, Mexico in May 2022.

The Skopje final was Clarke’s shortest match of the week at just 84 minutes. Impressively, he won all of his matches in straight sets, defeating notable opponents including top seed Hugo Dellien, defending champion Joel Schwaerzler, and Pedro Cachin en route to the title.

Meanwhile, on Court 5, the doubles final took place simultaneously due to weather delays. Czech pair Andrew Paulson and Michael Vrbensky came from behind to beat Sriram Balaji of India and Miguel Reyes-Varela from Mexico 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 in 82 minutes.

Rain disrupted the schedule earlier in the day, delaying both finals by nearly three hours and forcing them to be played on separate courts.
