Lorenzo Musetti of Italy and Mariano Navone from Argentina will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Sardegna Open in Cagliari. Musetti defeated Daniel Elahi Galan of Colombia 6-1, 6-4 in the stage of the last four.

The No. 2 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 175 clay-court event capitalized on four of his seven break-point chances and won 59 per cent of the total points played to advance in one hour and 27 minutes.

“I played an optimal match, controlling the rallies from the beginning with a forehand that worked great today,” said Musetti. “I tried to offer a simple but effective tennis. In the second set, I let a few opportunities slip away, but then at 5-4, I played a good game, despite some tension. In terms of confidence, it’s a really important victory.”

Navone beat eighth-seeded Italian Luciano Darderi 6-3, 7-5. The No. 3 seed from South America broke his rival’s serve five times to prevail after one hour and 48 minutes.

Musetti is seeking his third ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first of the season, in addition to his two triumphs on the ATP Tour. Navone is bidding for his sixth Challenger crown. The pair will meet for the first time.
