Harris Hoists Shenzhen Luohu Open Trophy

Following his triumph in Gwangju, South Korea last week, Lloyd Harris of South Africa has captured his second consecutive ATP Challenger Tour title in Asia by lifting the trophy of the Shenzhen Luohu Open in China. The No. 4 seed of the $82,000 hard-court event beat top seed James Duckworth of Australia 6-3, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final.

Harris booked his spot in the championship match with wins in the bottom half of the draw over Australian Dane Sweeny, Yu Hsiou Hsu of Chinese Taipei, Russian alternate Kalibek Kachmazov and Mark Lajal of Estonia.

Harris, 27, struck 14 aces in the final and won 90 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after one hour and 13 minutes.

By winning his fifth ATP Challenger Tour career title, Harris earned $11,200 as well as 75 ATP Ranking points.

The tournament was held at the Luohu Tennis Center in Shenzhen, located in southern China. Shenzhen is a modern metropolis known for its rapid economic growth and technological innovation. As one of China’s major financial centers, Shenzhen plays a vital role in the country’s development, particularly in the technology and manufacturing sectors.
