Dzumhur Downs Squire, Wins Ostra Group Open In Ostrava

Damir Dzumhur has clinched the title of the Ostra Group Open 2024 by Purposia. The top seed of the €74,825 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic, outlasted Henri Squire of Germany 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in the singles final.

Dzumhur battled his way into the championship match through the top half of the draw with wins over Nicholas David Ionel of Romania, Slovakian wild card entry Peter Benjamin Privara, Enrico Dalla Valle of Italy and Frenchman Manuel Guinard.

On a cloudy Sunday in Ostrava, the World No. 145 from Bosnia and Herzegovina withstood five aces, broke Squire six times and overcame a 5-1 deficit in the final set to prevail after two hours and three minutes.

Dzumhur lifted his 10th ATP Challenger career trophy, his second of the season following his triumph in Barletta, Italy earlier this month. The 31-year-old Sarajevo native has also captured three titles on the ATP Tour. Dzumhur earned € 10,200 in prize money and collected 75 ATP Ranking points.

The ATP Challenger Tour 75 tournament was held at the OSTRA Sport Centrum in Ostrava, located in the northeast of the Czech Republic.
