Francisco Comesana of Argentina has clinched the title of the Oeiras Open 3. The No. 4 seed of the €148,625 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament fought past Frenchman Ugo Blanchet of France 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in Sunday’s singles final.

Comesana, 23, battled his way to the championship match through the bottom half of the draw with wins over his compatriot Santiago Rodriguez Taverna, Elias Ymer of Sweden, Italian Samuel Vincent Ruggeri and Portuguese wild card entry Jaime Faria.

The World No. 115 hammered 10 aces and won 69 per cent of his first-service points to succeed in two hours and 15 minutes.

“The trophy will stay in a very special place, and tonight it will even sleep with me,” Comesana said.

By lifting his fifth career trophy on the Challenger Circuit, his first of the season, Comesana pocketed €20,300 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points. Comasana is projected to crack the Top 100 for the first time on Monday.

“There’s nothing more beautiful than entering the top 100 by winning a tournament. They received me very well from the first day. Everyone was very kind, the entire organization, everyone helped me, and since I was alone, I always felt very comfortable with that help,” he added.

The ATP Challenger Tour 125 event was held at the Jamor Tennis Complex in Oeiras, a charming coastal town located in Portugal, known for its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and cultural heritage. Situated near Lisbon, Oeiras offers a perfect blend of historical sites, modern amenities, and natural beauty, making it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
