The field of participants for the 2024 Terra Wortmann Open got even more exciting, as World No. 5 Andrey Rublev has confirmed his participation for the 31st edition of the ATP 500 grass-court tournament, taking place from June 15 to 23 in Halle, Westphalia, Germany. The 26-year-old Russian joins four other top-10 players.

“Andrey has been happy to join us in Halle for many years,” says Ralf Weber, tournament director and managing partner of OWL ARENA. “On one hand, he feels very comfortable here off the court. On the other hand, he excels in playing on grass with his powerful and well-placed groundstrokes, which is why he is generally considered one of the favorites here.” Last year, Rublev reached the final in Halle for the second time, following his 2021 loss to Ugo Humbert, but was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in three sets.

In 2023, the 26-year-old Muscovite had his most successful season on the tour, finally capturing his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Monte Carlo. As a result, Rublev equaled his career-best ranking of fifth in the world. Additionally, he qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals for the fourth consecutive time.

However, he still sees room for improvement, particularly in the mental aspect: players like Djokovic, Medvedev, Alcaraz, or Sinner are psychologically more stable than him, he says. Therefore, Rublev’s goal is simply to“get better and better, especially at the biggest events.”

The field is led by reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner of Italy and home favourite Alexander Zverev, as well as World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev of Russia. Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime will also be part of the line-up.
