Italian veteran Fabio Fognini has captured his first ATP Challenger Tour title since 2010 in Santiago de Chile by lifting the trophy of the second edition of the Copa Faulcombridge Ciudad de Valencia. The No. 8 seed of the €118,000 clay-court event being held at the Club de Tenis Valencia defeated top seed and home favourite Roberto Bautista Agut 3-6, 7-6(8), 7-6(3) in Sunday’s singles final.
Fognini needed to save two match points in the second set to secure victory in three hours and 11 minutes.

“It was a very tough match. I’m happy. I’m almost 37 years old; it was a tough year with injuries. But despite everything, I had to fight for this sport that I love. Congratulations to the organization for this great tournament,” said Fognini.
The World No. 131 captured his seventh ATP Challenger Tour career title and pocketed €16,020 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
