Iga Swiatek and Storm Hunter Celebrate WTA Year-End No.1 Ranking Achievements

The WTA today celebrated Iga Swiatek and Storm Hunter‘s WTA Year-End No.1 Ranking achievements by revealing both players’ official commemorative photographs.This is the second consecutive season Swiatek has finished the season in the top spot, and returned to the No.1 position on Monday, November 6 after winning the 2023 GNP Seguros WTA Finals Cancun with this being her 76th week overall at the summit of the WTA Rankings.For Hunter this is her first time capturing the WTA Year-End No.1 Doubles Ranking and she is the second Australian woman to end the season in the top spot in doubles after Samantha Stosur in 2006.

Swiatek became the 15th player overall and first from Poland to earn the WTA Year-End No.1 Singles Ranking accolade in 2022, and repeated the feat this year thanks to six titles across 2023. The 22-year-old went undefeated at the WTA Finals to win the event for the first time in her career in addition to winning the WTA 1000 China Open (Beijing), WTA 500 events at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix (Stuttgart) and Qatar TotalEnergies Open (Doha), WTA 250 BNP Paribas Warsaw Open and her fourth Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros.She ends the season with 68 wins to her name which included an 11-match winning streak to close out the season with back-to-back titles at Beijing and the WTA Finals in Cancun.

Hunter’s season has seen her win three titles, triumphing at WTA 1000 tournaments at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome and the Guadalajara Open AKRON Presented by SANTANDER and also winning the WTA 500 Adelaide International 1. The 29-year-old reached a further two finals, at the WTA 250 Rothesay Classic Birmingham and her debut Grand Slam final at Wimbledon. She also qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time in her career with partner Elise Mertens, going undefeated in the group stage and reaching the semifinals.
