Peter Gojowczyk Hangs Up His Racket

Former World No. 39 Peter Gojowczyk of Germany has announced his retirement from professional tennis. The 2017 Moselle Open champion played his last match at the ATP 250 event in Metz on Saturday when he lost in the first round of the qualifying to Frenchman Harold Mayot in three sets. 

Gojowczyk, 34, clinched eight singles titles on the ITF Pro Circuit, five ATP Challenger Tour crowns and lifted his only ATP Tour trophy in Metz six years ago.

He wrote on Instagram that the tennis world is going to remain part of his life, but a new and wonderful chapter is going to start now.
