With the presence of the Mayor of the city of Guayaquil, Mr. Aquiles Álvarez, along with the organizers, Andrés Gómez (tournament director) and Luis Adrián Morejón, the XIX Challenger Ciudad de Guayaquil COPA BANCO GUAYAQUIL was officially launched on Friday. This ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event will be held from October 30 to November at the Anexo Guayaquil Tenis Club.

Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador and also the nation’s economic capital and main port. The city is the capital of Guayas Province and the seat of Guayaquil Canton. The city is located on the west bank of the Guayas River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Guayaquil.

“The Challenger de Guayaquil, in these 19 years, stands for perseverance, resilience, innovation, and growth. It represents everything we want for our city; with the support of the mayor and the sports management, this is what we have. Not even the pandemic stopped us because we were the first tournament held during the pandemic in 2020,” said Andrés Gómez, former World No. 4 and champion at Roland Garros in 1990.
