ITF Dharwad Open Qualifiers Begins

The excitement is building in the quaint town of Dharwad as the Dharwad District Lawn Tennis Association (DDLTA) is all decked up to kick off the qualifiers for the Dharwad ITF World Tennis Tour Tournament, at the Dharwad District Lawn Tennis Association courts on Sunday.

This year’s event will mark the third time that Dharwad has hosted an international tennis tournament, reinforcing the city’s commitment to promoting tennis in the region. With an impressive lineup of players, this year’s tournament promises to be an outstanding showcase of talent and competition.

The main draw for the US $25,000 prize money tournament includes a total of 20 direct entries, eight qualifiers, and four wild cards. The qualifying rounds are scheduled to take place at the Rajyadhyaksha Pavilion, with the first round of qualifying matches slated for Sunday and the final qualifying round set for Monday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad and President of DDLTA Mr. Gurudatta Hegde, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are proud to host the Dharwad ITF WTT 25K Tennis Tournament, and we look forward to witnessing the incredible talent that will grace our courts. The Dharwad ITF continues to be a source of pride for our City. Wildcards for qualifiers announced

AITA has released three names for wildcard entries for the qualifiers – Neeraj Yashpal, Mukil Ramanan and Dharmil Shah while one more name was to be released later this evening.

The tournament is a significant platform for emerging talent to make their mark on the international tennis scene. The qualifying rounds will feature fierce competition as players strive to secure one of the eight coveted spots in the main draw. The main draw action is set to begin on Tuesday, promising tennis enthusiasts an exciting week of world-class matches.

The draw ceremony, where players will be placed in their respective brackets, will be held on Monday, generating anticipation and excitement for the thrilling battles to come.
