World No. 83 Federico Coria leads the quarterfinals line-up of the Challenger de Buenos Aires. The top seed of the $130,000 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament defeated Brazilian qualifier Joao Reis da Silva in Thursday’s second round 6-1, 6-3.

Coria won 83 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival five times to advance in one hour and 23 minutes. He will be joined in the stage of the last eight by five more players from Argentina.

The 31-year-old Rosario native will next take on Jan Choinski, who benefited from the retirement of Bolivian Hugo Dellien due to a back injury. The No. 8 seed became the first British player to reach the quarterfinals of the Challenger de Buenos Aires since Kyle Edmund in 2015. Interestingly, that year, Edmund went on to win the title, defeating Carlos Berlocq in the final.
