Svajda Secures Second Tiburon Challenger Title

TIBURON/STARNBERG, October 9, 2023

Zachary Svajda bested Adam Walton of Australia 6-2, 6-2 in the Tiburon Challenger presented by Raymond James Financial in Sunday’s singles final to win the $80,000 hard-court tournament held at the Tiburon Peninsula Club for the second straight year.

The 20-year-old US-American converted five of his 14 break-point chances and won 59 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 20 minutes.

Tournament director Adam Gagnon congratulated Svajda, whom he called “Our first two-time champion.”

Svajda, who earned $10,840 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points, thanked everyone and said, “You do such a great job. … It was perfect.”

Second place honors went to Walton, who congratulated Svajda and said. “I’m sure we’ll have more battles in the future. Well done.”
