Martin Damm from the United States confirmed his status as the favorite and clinched the title of the eighth edition of the RE/MAX Lounge Setúbal Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour M25 event organized by the Setúbal Tennis Club with support from the Portuguese Tennis Federation and the Setúbal City Council.

The final on Sunday featured two US-American players, and the more experienced of the two emerged victorious. Ranked 374th in the world, Damm defeated his compatriot and World No. 810 Dali Blanch 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3.

Both players had faced Portuguese opponents on their way to the final: Damm defeated Jaime Faria in the semi-finals, while Blanch ended the campaigns of home favourite Diogo Marques in the first round and the tournament’s top seed Frederico Silva in the second round.

Sunday’s victory marked Damm’s fifth career singles title on the Pro Circuit, all of which have been on hard courts, and his fourth in $25,000 tournaments. It was also his second title of the year.

Hailing from Bradenton, Florida, the US-American arrived at the Setúbal Tennis Club with his career-best ranking, and thanks to the 25 ATP points earned this week, he will see his ranking rise further in early October.
