Navone Leads Quarterfinals Line-Up In Santa Fe

Mariano Navone has reached the quarterfinals of the AAT Challenger Santa Fe. The top seed of the $40,000 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event in Argentina defeated fellow Argentine Luciano Emanuel Ambrogi 6-4, 6-1 on Thursday.

Navone saved all three break points he faced and capitalized on four of his own five break-point chances to secure victory in one hour and 19 minutes.

Up next for the World No. 191 will be his compatriot Tomas Farjat, who fought past Brazilian qualifier Igor Gimenez 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-2 after two hours and 15 minutes.

In other action in the top half of the draw, Alvaro Guillen Meza continued his fine run of form this week. The 20-year-old qualifier from Ecuador beat Matias Soto of Chile 6-3, 6-1 in 64 minutes to book his place in the stage of the final eight.

Guillen Meza will next play No. 4 seed Francisco Comesana. The 248th-ranked Argentine edged past Chilean Gonzalo Lama 6-3, 6-3. The encounter lasted one hour and 35 minutes.
