AUGSBURG, May 23, 2019

Following last year’s inaugural Isar Open in Pullach, situated in the greater Area of Munich, the organizers of the tournament, decided to move the ATP Challenger event to Augsburg. It is now called Schwaben Open.

The city in Swabia is the third largest in Bavaria (after Munich and Nuremberg) with a population of about 300,000 inhabitants. The tournament with a total financial commitment of €46,600 will be held on clay at the TC Augsburg Siebentischwald from 5 to 11 August, 2019. The champions will receive 80 ATP-Ranking points.

“It’s the biggest tennis club in Augsburg with about 900 club members. There are 19 outdoor courts and a restaurant. The venue is beautiful. There will also be a tournament village again,” organizer Alessandra Trenkle said.

According to Trenkle, due to a schedule conflict with the German Tennis Bundesliga team in Großhesselohe, which also hosts its home ties at the same time in Pullach, the relocation of the tournament was necessary. With the return of the ATP Challenger in Manerbio, Italy, the Schwaben Open will be one of only two clay-court events taking place during that week.

Rudolf Molleker, Daniel Altmaier, Kevin Krawietz and Daniel Masur are the first four players confirmed for the tournament.
