Laaksonen Returns To Winners’ Circle At Bangkok Open

BANGKOK, February 17, 2019

Henri Laaksonen is the champion of the JobTopGun Bangkok Open 2019. The No. 3 seed from Switzerland defeated No. 14 seed Dudi Sela from Israel 6-2, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final of the ATP Challenger 80 hard-court event.

Laaksonen didn’t face a break point, capitalizing on three of his own five chances to secure victory in one hour and six minutes. By lifting his fourth ATP Challenger trophy, his first since Champaign 2016, took away $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.

Earlier on Centre Court, Mao-Xin Gong and Ze Zhang clinched the doubles title. The No. 2 seeded all-Chinese combination beat the tournament’s top team Cheng-Peng Hsieh of Taiwan and Christopher Rungkat from Indonesia 6-4, 6-4. The final lasted 62 minutes.
